AFTER CARE- LIPS
AFTERCARE IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOUR PROCEDURE
Immediately after your cosmetic tattoo procedure, you will feel slight tingling and tenderness, and a bit of swelling in the tattoo area. This is because the numbing cream/anesthetic used on your lips before applying the tattoo, will start to wear off and the newly exposed wound will begin the process of healing. Immediately after the procedure the lips will appear very bright, this is completely normal, rest assured that after 5-7 days the colour will fade. It is likely that you will experience some skin sensitivity, redness and swelling for about 1-2 days
.
DO NOT USE ANY OTHER PRODUCTS ON THE TATTOO AREA FOR 7-10 DAYS.
No soaps, cleaners, makeup, or creams other than the aftercare cream provided. Make sure you give the lips up to 10 days to heal and set, limit any physical activity (like swimming or saunas) or exposure to direct sunlight that might cause premature fading. All tattoos carry the inherent risk of infection and/or allergic reaction, if pain or tenderness persists for longer than a few days, consult your doctor immediately and please let your artist know at your touch up . Please apply a thin layer of aftercare to the tattoo area on the hour every hour, or when your lips are feeling dry, for up to 7 days. The Line and Define aftercare will help prevent infection and keep the lips from drying out for fast and effective healing. The aftercare can be used as a general lipgloss after healing is complete to make the colour of your tattooing POP!
SWELLING AND/OR BRUISING
Swelling, redness, skin sensitivity, and some minor bruising are normal side effects to the tattoo procedure, but they should not last longer than a day or two. How easily a person swells and bruises depend on factors such as their age, skin type, health, and circulation.
APPEARANCE
Please note: The ink from a fresh tattoo will appear slightly dark/bright and much thicker than expected so don’t be alarmed. This is normal and usually after 5-7 days or so the top layer starts to scab and slough off in certain places. This process is called shedding. Comparatively, these sections may appear extremely light next to the non-shredded segments. This pigment will eventually soften and settle into the appropriate shade when shedding has completed. In total, it should take 7-10 days for your new lip tattoo to shed completely. You may notice your tattooing has disappeared. This is called the “Ghosting Phase” and is completely normal as your skin heals over the tattoo. The pigment will develop in your skin over the next 4-6 weeks. If you are wanting your lips to appear brighter/darker by your 6-8 week touch up please let your artist know. Please be patient with the process.
AFTERCARE DURING THE FIRST TWO-WEEK HEALING PERIOD
The days following the procedure as your skin heals, it may feel itchy. This is a normal part of the process and a good sign your cosmetic tattoo is healing properly. Be careful you do not exfoliate, rub, scratch, pick or pull at the shedding skin. You can cause trauma to the tissue and increase the possibility of skin damage, infection or increase in fall out by prematurely removing the tattoo pigment.
AVERAGE HEALING TIME AND PROCESS
Average healing time will vary from person to person and will depend on several physiological factors such as age, skin type, circulation, and hormonal cycles. As with any type of skin trauma, older looser skin tends to take a bit longer than younger skin to heal. Other factors that may affect healing time include diet, excessive physical activity, exposure to direct sunlight, and any medications you might be taking.
TOUCH UP PROCEDURE
After 7-10 days your lips will have healed. As a result, the initial intensity and thickness will fade, you will go through a process of “ghosting” where it will look as your tattoo has disappeared. The desired colour shade will start appearing in the next few weeks. At about the 6-8 week mark, you should have a scheduled “touch up” procedure especially if you would like to make any changes to depth, shade of your lips or fill in any areas needing modifications as some areas would have faded in the shedding process. During the “touch up” the original procedure will be repeated. This repetition helps the tattoo last longer and encourages the pigment to embed more permanently into the skin. Lastly, depending on how well you follow these aftercare recommendations and how fast the semi-permanent pigment fades, you schedule touch ups / colour refreshers every 12-18 months, longer if necessary. It will all depend on how your skin natural holds the pigment.
THE LIFE AND LONGEVITY OF YOUR TATTOO
This depends on sun exposure, swimming in chlorinated water as it will affect the tattoo pigment so avoid excessive exposure. Also be mindful of these ingredients in your daily facial products: Certain facial products can have a bleaching effect: Glycol Acid, Retinol, Vitamin A & C We recommend you check your cleansers and moisturisers for these ingredients as they can fade the tattoo prematurely. If your skin care does contain these ingredients YOU STILL CAN USE THEM, JUST BE MINDFUL NOT TO ALLOW THESE PRODUCTS TO COME IN CONTACT WITH THE AREA BEAUTY TREATMENTS:
Ensure you advise your therapist that you have a tattoo, if treating with IPL the tattoo must be covered to avoid fading.
YOU CANNOT DONATE BLOOD 6 MONTHS AFTER A TREATMENT (This is a worldwide health regulation).
AFTER CARE- BROWS
IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOUR PROCEDURE
After your cosmetic brow tattoo procedure, you may experience slight tingling, tenderness, and mild swelling in the tattooed area. This is normal as the numbing cream/anaesthetic wears off, and your skin begins its healing process. The brow area may appear darker and more defined immediately after the procedure. This is completely normal and will fade over the course of a week. You may also experience some skin sensitivity, redness, and swelling for 1-2 days after the procedure.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT USE ANY OTHER PRODUCTS ON THE TATTOO AREA FOR 7-10 DAYS besides the aftercare provided.
Avoid soaps, cleansers, makeup, vigorous exercise, getting them wet, saunas, during the 7 day period.

AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS:
Apply a thin layer of the provided aftercare to the tattooed area with clean hands or a cotton bud starting from one day post procedure, morning and night for 7 days. This will help prevent infection and keep the brows hydrated, promoting faster healing.

APPEARANCE
Immediately after the procedure, your brows may appear darker, thicker, and more defined than expected. This is normal. Over the first 5-7 days, the top layer of the pigment may start to shed, leaving some parts lighter than others. This process is called "shedding" and is completely normal.
During the healing phase, you may notice what is known as the “Ghosting Phase,” where the tattoo appears to fade or disappear. This is temporary, and the pigment will gradually settle into the skin over the next 4-6 weeks, revealing the final shade.

AFTERCARE DURING THE FIRST TWO-WEEK HEALING PERIOD
During the healing process, your skin may feel itchy. This is a normal part of the healing process and a sign that your brows are healing. Please avoid scratching, rubbing, or picking at the area, as this could damage the skin, cause infection, or prematurely remove the pigment.

AVERAGE HEALING TIME AND PROCESS
Healing time can vary depending on factors such as skin type, age, circulation, and overall health. In general, the healing process takes around 7-10 days. Older or looser skin may take longer to heal compared to younger skin. Other factors like diet, physical activity, and sun exposure can also affect healing time.

TOUCH-UP PROCEDURE
After 7-10 days, your brows will have healed. At this stage, the initial intensity of the pigment will have faded, and you may experience “ghosting” where the brows seem to disappear. This is part of the natural healing process. The pigment will settle into your skin over the next few weeks.
Your follow-up touch-up appointment is essential and should be scheduled around 4-6 weeks after your initial procedure. During this touch-up, we will assess how the tattoo has healed and make any adjustments to the shape, depth, or colour as needed. Some areas may have faded during the shedding process, and this touch-up will ensure your brows are perfect.
After the touch-up, you can expect your brows to last longer and settle into the desired shade. Annual touch-ups are recommended to maintain the look of your brows.

LIFE AND LONGEVITY OF YOUR TATTOO
The longevity of your brow tattoo depends on several factors, including sun exposure, swimming, and certain skincare products. Excessive sun exposure, swimming in chlorinated water, and using products containing glycolic acid, retinol, or vitamin C can cause the pigment to fade prematurely.
If your skincare contains these ingredients, try to avoid direct contact with the brow area. Be mindful of these factors to preserve your tattoo’s appearance for longer.
IMPORTANT
If you’re planning any beauty treatments such as IPL, ensure to inform your technician that you have a tattoo. The area must be covered to avoid fading.

BLOOD DONATION
As per global health regulations, you cannot donate blood for 6 months after a cosmetic tattoo procedure. This is important to note before scheduling any blood donation appointments.
